The Fourth of July holiday celebrates the moment the Declaration of Independence was passed by the Continental Congress in 1776. It’s a moment to come together to honor our freedom, enjoy a meal together, and watch a spectacle of lights in the sky.

Celebrate the holiday with one of these six Prince George’s events:

  1. Listen to the patriotic sounds of the U.S. Air Force Band Max Impact in its Salute the Sunset Concert Series. Pack a blanket and a picnic to enjoy the evening show with your loved ones at the Spirit Park Amphitheater on July 1.

  1. Enjoy the spectacle at the 2023 Bladensburg Fireworks Independence Day Celebration on July 3. The show will take place at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park, where there will also be music, food trucks, and activities.

  1. Experience an extended day of excitement at Six Flags America during the weekend of July 4. The Bowie event, sponsored by Coca-Cola, will feature a live DJ, late-night hours, discount passes, and evening fireworks.

  1. Bring the kids to the National Harbor for Kids Day on July 4. Groovy Nate will bring music, puppetry, movement, and comedy to the harbor — encouraging kids to get grooving in the morning.

  1. Watch the fireworks show at Greenbelt’s Buddy Attick Lake Park at around 9 p.m. Bring chairs, a blanket, snacks, and your friends to enjoy the lights in the sky together.

  1. Head to the National Harbor for the Stars & Stripes Military Concert Series show on July 5. The 229th Army National Guard Band will be performing a free show, and you can pick up food from nearby restaurants.

Plan a daytime picnic in Prince George’s at one of these spots.
