Pumpkin season is here, and we mean that in more than just the spiced-latte and muffins sense. If you’re looking to grab an orange gourd to celebrate fall, decorate your porch, or carve a creepy Halloween creature, Prince George’s farms have you covered. At each of these locations, you’ll be able to pick out a pumpkin and enjoy an array of autumn activities, from hayrides to giant slides to corn mazes.

Visit one of these four pumpkin patches for a true fall experience — and make it a weekend with our restaurant and hotel suggestions:

  1. It’s all about fall family fun at Miller Farms in Clinton. After admission, you can hop on a scenic hayride around the farm, slide down a few giant slides, navigate the corn maze, visit the barnyard animals, make your way through the tire obstacle course, and take a few Instagram-worthy photos at the farm’s decorative displays. Pick a pumpkin after the adventure — the farm has every shape and size you can imagine — and enjoy some apple cider donuts or pumpkin pie.

  2. Enjoy a traditional pumpkin patch experience at Queen Anne Farm in Mitchellville. The family-friendly farm is a great spot to let the kids run through rows and rows of pumpkins, find the perfect jack-o-lantern option, and take a photo at the Pumpkin House. Look out for Pet Days at the Patch and the pre-cleaned and emptied pumpkin sale at the end of October.

  1. Fall Festival at Montpelier Farms in Upper Marlboro hosts a market with delicious treats and drinks, friendly farm animals, a fun playground, a trike track, giant hill slides, and an array of fabulous pumpkins. You’ll get to hop into the corn pit, weave your way through the seven-acre corn maze, play some barnyard basketball, try your hand at pumpkin bowling, enjoy a sunny hayride, and join a public bonfire.

  2. If you’d prefer to grab your pumpkin from a nursery rather than a farm, Patuxent Home and Garden is just your spot. For over 25 years, the shop has been serving seasoned gardeners and beginners. The knowledgeable staff can help you find and choose a pumpkin that’s perfect for carving, decoration, or fun. Acres of plants surround the nursery, so you’re bound to find the one you want.
