The most talented horses and riders from across the country are headed to Upper Marlboro, Maryland, in October, and you can see them compete.

Since 1958, equestrians and guests have joined the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) for seven days of jumper, hunter, and equitation competitions; equestrian entertainment; and community and charity events. The event is a space for expert riders, horse-lovers, families, and discerning judges to come together to celebrate and elevate the sport.

The 67th WIHS will kick off at The Show Place Arena at Prince George’s Equestrian Center on October 20, 2025, and runs until October 26. The Upper Marlboro event hosts daily expert-level, family-friendly events for the public to enjoy. Daytime entry is free, while tickets for three evening events are available for purchase in advance. Along with top competition sessions, there will be horse-theme exhibitions, boutique shopping, arena concessions, and food trucks.

Enjoy the daytime competitions, and don’t miss these special events:

Join the show’s Military Night on October 23, when you’ll get to see the presentation of the Honor and Service Award and the Rex Reed Award. There will also be $63,000 prizes awarded to the winners of the International Jumper Welcome Stake and the Stars and Stripes Speed Stake. An American flag jump event will raise funds for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

Don’t miss the “Wild for WIHS” fun at this year’s Barn Night on October 24. The safari-themed events will include thrilling exhibitions, a costume contest, Shetland Pony Steeplechase Races, Sylvia Zerbini’s Grande Liberté, and an autograph session. Register ahead of time and check out the rules to participate.

Head to the Arena for WIHS Kids’ Day on October 25 at 10 a.m. There will be pony rides, face painting, a horseless horse show, creative activities, and a chance to meet some special horses and ponies — and it’s all free.

Watch the exciting competition of World Cup Night on October 25. You’ll get to see the WIHS Equitation Finals Presentation, the President’s Cup Award Presentation, the International Jumper Awards, and more.
