Broad Creek Historic District derives its significance from the collection
of four early- to mid-eighteenth-century landmarks that are the remnants of
the eighteenth century port town of Aire. This historic district presents
an important opportunity to interpret the architecture and lifeways of the
later half of the eighteenth century and the vanished Town of Aire,
established by an Act of the Maryland Assembly in 1706.
