The Free Hope Baptist Church is the sole surviving historical structure in the industrial area since the War of 1812. Relocated in 1818 to Bladensburg, this brick gable-roof church added a bell tower and lower gable-roof addition to enhance its beauty. It was sold to a black Baptist congregation in 1874 before being sold to a congregation known as St. Paul Free Hope Baptist Church in 1973, which has owned and operated the building ever since.
