  2. Listen to the smooth tones of Downtown Tumbao during the Jazz on the Lawn concert at Riversdale House Museum on August 7. This free evening show is sponsored by the Maryland State Arts Council and the Town of Riverdale Park. Don’t forget your picnic blanket and basket.
  3. Presented by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the Kid Inventors program on August 8 at the Fairmont Library will give little ones a look into the world of invention. Listen to stories, talk about child inventors, and complete an artsy activity.
  4. Country music fans will love the Justin Taylor Band performance on August 8 at Watkins Regional Park. The family-friendly show is the perfect spot to bring a picnic dinner and your best dance moves.
  5. Six Flags America is a place for all families, and the park hosts Sensory Friendly Days for an inclusive park experience. On August 9 and 23, all guests are welcome for a day focused on reducing the environmental triggers in the park.
  6. View a movie under the stars at National Harbor — and order a picnic meal from one of the many nearby restaurants to enjoy while you watch. Date night films show on Thursday nights and family films show on Sundays.
  7. Head to Montpelier House Museum on August 15 to learn about the history of the iron industry, from Africa to Maryland, during its Metal Heads event. You can bring the whole family and complete craft and science projects together.
  8. Get your tickets for the hilarious Not Famous But Funny comedy show at Bowie Center for the Performing Arts on August 23. You’ll enjoy wholesome, funny, thought-provoking comedy from an all-female cast of comedians.
  9. Bring the kids to the College Park Aviation Museum on August 24 for the Afternoon Aviators: Space event. This educational experience is best for kids ages 8–12 and will cover the colors of the cosmos, including the electromagnetic spectrum.
  10. Be ready to laugh when you arrive for the Earthquake show on August 30 at The Theater at MGM National Harbor. The stand-up comedian, known for his Quakeshouse radio show on SiriusXM and his Netflix special produced by Dave Chappelle, is bound to make you laugh out loud.
