Spring is the season of renewal — and that makes it the perfect time to get out and try something you’ve never experienced. Luckily, Prince George’s is packed with plenty of exciting, interesting activities, from musical performances to film showings to gardening events.

Add these 10 May activities to your calendar:

  1. Listen to the “D.C. Queen of the Blues,” Stacy Brooks, perform at the Montpelier Arts Center on May 2. She’ll bring her signature toe-tapping, head-bobbing, feel-good jams to Prince George’s.
  2. Join the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration with your Prince George’s community on May 4 at Harmony Hall Arts Center. Celebrate with captivating performances, insightful workshops, delicious cuisine, and unique artisan goods.
  3. Grab a chair, pick up food from a nearby restaurant, and enjoy a picnic while watching Moana at the National Harbor’s Plaza on May 5. Check out the “Movies on the Potomac” calendar for showings all through the month.
  4. Head to the Brentwood Arts Exchange on May 10 to listen to the eclectic sounds of Ari Voxx. On May 10, she’ll bring her show to the Listening Room Music Concert Series and share her “dreamy pop” music.
  5. Join fellow nature lovers to clean up the shoreline at Fort Washington Park on May 11 at 9:30 am. The event happens every second Saturday from April through December. Meet near the lighthouse and pick up your gloves, bags, and track pickers.
  6. Laugh along with Marlon Wayans when he performs at the National Harbor Theater on May 11. The actor, writer, producer, comedian, and film director will be performing during his Microphone Fiend Tour.
  7. Help the staff at Old Maryland Farm support the farm on their annual Gardening Day on May 14. Weed, plant seeds, and plant seedlings to support the growth that happens in this historic and functioning farm inside Watkins Regional Park.
  8. Attend the second annual National Harbor CocktailPRO Competition on May 16. If you’re 21 or older, you can watch nine contestants compete, try the unique cocktails they make, and vote for your favorite drink.
  9. Watch the University of Maryland baseball team take on Penn State on May 18 — then keep an eye on the schedule for the rest of games during the season.
  10. Meet at the Mt. Calvert Historic Site in Upper Marlboro on May 18 to join a scenic kayak tour into the western branch of the Patuxent River. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and water to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable trip.
