With social media, it’s easier than ever to share your life with the world — and it only makes sense that you’d want to share it from beautiful spots. With a snapshot, you can document a moment in time and capture the happiness, peace, or excitement you had while you were in it. If you’re searching for a place where you can feel great and chronicle that experience, come to Prince George’s. You’ll find plenty of these appealing spaces.
Take your shot at these 10 Instagram-worthy spots:
-
Pose in front of a 15-foot “it-girl” painted by Kilmany-Jo Liversage. The mural, which depicts a woman in glasses surrounded by graffiti-style art, is on a wall in College Park next to Nando’s Peri-Peri restaurant, which helped sponsor the 2015 artwork.
-
When it comes to views, it’s hard to beat the Belvedere Lobby Bar at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. The windows start at the floor and rise up and over a stories-high ceiling, allowing for tons of sunlight to shine in. Grab a coffee and a couch, then pull out your camera to mark the moment.
-
Bladensburg Waterfront Park is a gorgeous entry point to the Anacostia River. You can rent a kayak and get on the river to focus your lens on the water and aquatic foliage. If you’re lucky, you might get an action shot of some of the birds that call the river home.
-
The drama of The Awakening at the National Harbor’s waterfront makes for an excellent social media image, with the massive sculpture’s arm clawing out of the sand toward the sky and the face falling beneath the ground. At more than 70 feet across, you’ll have to stand back to get it all or allow for a zoomed-in close-up.
-
The landscape at Robin Hill Farm and Vineyards is beyond beautiful, and the striking red barn only adds to the drama. Order a bottle and a charcuterie board, find a spot on the porch, then shoot as many photographs as your feed can stand.
-
Bring some joy to your feed by uploading an image of the colorful “The Sky’s The Limit” mural outside the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville. Muralist John Ortiz, who has a studio at the center, painted the mural to match the intention of the center: a space to energize and elevate local artists.
-
Book a campsite at the Patuxent River Park and find some peace for your creativity. The campsites are on the river, and opportunities for natural photography abound. Share images of the water, forest, and fields, along with photos of nearby wildlife.
-
If brunch and happy hour shots are more your style, head over to Osteria Costa, a modern Italian restaurant at MGM National Harbor. The food is gorgeous, the decor is colorful and classic, and the lighting is fantastic.
-
Pull your Instagram account back in time by bringing your camera for an overnight stay at Hennessy Creek Bed & Breakfast. The vaulted ceilings and fireplace at the Rosemont Loft make for the perfect intimate photo shoot location.
-
This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning one of the most popular Instagram spots in the region: Montpelier Farms. In the summer, you can photograph yourself amid a field of sunflowers, and in the fall, you can put on your flannel and get an image of yourself in their pumpkin patch.
Take your creativity off social media and into the studio at one of these artistic outlets.
